How to rent in Port Nicea
Although our studio is not available for rent here is a selection of apartments to rent within Residence Port Nicea.

The residence or block consists of five floors of apartments with two internal courtyards. All of the apartments have a balcony; all face an inner couryard and some have an extra balcony facing the roads, rue Emmanuel Philibert on one side and rue Francois Guisol on the other. The internal courtyards mean that the apartments are nice and quiet , something to be considered in Nice, there can be a lot of traffic noise. The majority staying in Port Nicea are either French or Italian residents with a small number of apartments let for holidays so it really is very peaceful and well-ordered. The area is mostly residential with a few services and antique shops. A couple of modern budget hotels are on rue Emmanuel Philibert.

For a bit more information about Port Nicea and the surrounding Port area see my
Port page. You are very close to the Port, Chateau Hill and Old Town. Riquier train station for the local train service fron Mandeliue in the west to Vintimiglia just over the Italian border in the east. The 100 bus from the Port goes all the way along the coast east to Menton.

Renting an apartment as opposed to staying in a hotel is a great experience and I would consider trying this perhaps on a second visit to Nice. Once you have been to Nice you are in a good position to know the best areas, great shops etc and you will see how easy it would be to self-cater with all the local markets, bakeries, supermarkets etc. From my residence, the supermarkets Monoprix, Spar and the wonderfully cheap Ed are just around the corner as well as many bakeries, just set off in any direction. Don't let the thought of self-catering put you off though, the hundreds of cafes, restaurants, bakeries etc means there is no need to ever shake a pan in Nice not even for breakfast. If the thought of cleaning an apartment on departure puts you off, then choose one that includes a cleaning service, it's worth the cost, same for the linen service, save you bringing out your own sheets. Many apartments in Nice have a 'meet and greet' with someone on hand living in Nice which can also be helpful and reassuring.

If you own an apartment  for rentals/holiday letting and require a meet & greet service, try Matt and Gayle's company:
Haven from Home

If you find any more apartments available to rent in
Port Nicea do let me know and I'll add them to this page.

If you see an apartment you like the look of, please click on that photograph or 'more info' and you will be linked through to its original site for rental details.

Sometimes the links disappear so if you find any 'dead' links, do let me know and I'll try and mend them or take them off the page.

For information on how to get to
Port Nicea from Nice Airport, please click here and then scroll down the page a bit. Briefly, you need the 98 express airport bus for 4 euros to the Bus station or Gare Routiere, then an easy 5-10 minute walk.

Even closer, for the summer of 2006, the 99 express bus from the airport to the train station was extended to terminate at Nice Port. This was most convenient for Port Nicea and other hotels and apartments near the Port. Cost in 2006 is 4 euros.

We sometimes use
ATS - airport transfer service to get to our studio from Nice airport.

It's about the same price as a taxi, between 25 and 30 pounds for up to four people, even cheaper if you can order a shared transfer on the
website It's paid for and reserved in advance. It can be quite reassuring for a first visit to Nice at least one way. By the end of your holiday you'll be confident to use the express bus to return to the airport.

If you want to look at some other apartments to rent, then take a look at my Practical Guide page. Scroll down to apartments to rent and buy, there are several links to some great sites there; you are sure to find an apartment to suit.

If you prefer a hotel, then try
tripadvisor.com for brutally honest reviews. As much as an apartment is an ideal way to immerse yourself into Nicoise life, for a first time visit to Nice a hotel is probably the safest bet. Be sure to check the location of your hotel though. Hotels described as being 'Close to the Promenade des Anglais' or '100 m from the beach' mean nothing, you can still be a good three miles from the centre of Nice as the Promenade starts at the airport!

As a rough guide try and aim for a hotel or an apartment with a location approximately east of the Negresco hotel, west of Mont Boron (just beyond the Port) and south of Nice Ville train station (avoiding the immediate train station area)

The website
mappy.com is useful for mapping out the exact locations if you know the full address.
