Introduction AllaboutNice.com is a travel guide about Nice, capital of the Cote d'Azur in the South of France. You will find tips and advice on restaurants, shopping, travel & transport, beaches, accommodation and where to go and what to see in Nice plus useful links and resources. Please navigate through my site via the links on the left or through the buttons above or use the drop down site map at the top of this page.. You might find this site useful if you are planning to visit Nice for a holiday or if you are planning to buy an apartment or studio in Nice. You can find more information about Nice from links to other websites in my practical guide page. Guide books about Provence and the Cote d'Azur all contain sections on Nice and I have a page on recommended books about Nice. If you are familiar with Nice then I should welcome information or links about this vibrant city for example, restaurant recommendations or, if you have an apartment to rent, then send me details and I may add it to this site. My own interest is the area around the Port of Nice known as Nice le Port where we have a second holiday home, a tiny studio apartment in Residence Port Nicea. It also makes a handy base for skiing in the winter. I also contribute tips about Nice on the travel website Virtualtourist.com under the name of 'allaboutnice' and to the forums and Insider pages on the excellent tripadvisor.com website. I am starting to keep a Blog when I am in Nice which will help maintain up to date information, please take a look if you have a moment, thank you.

26th February 2006 Sitting on the Promenade des Anglais A warm, sunny February day in Nice, the colour of the sea was amazing. You can tell it's still winter though from the warm clothes and long shadows. Only a few brave ones on the beach. It's probably a Sunday, most other photos show us surrounded by the spoils of shoppping.

18th August 2006 La Colombe d'Or, St Paul de Vence This is always our best day out. Every summer we take the 400 bus from Nice to St Paul de Vence, visit the Fondation Maeght - great exhibition this year - 'Noir est une couleur' with works from over 100 artists. Lunch at La Colombe d'Or followed by a mellow stroll around the village before catching the bus back to Nice. Wonderful.
Routard guide to Nice 07-08 This annual guide is every French person's travel bible, listing up to date restaurants, places to visit, maps etc. Many of the cafes and restaurants listed offer a free drink on production of this book. In French but the simple format makes it relatively easy to understand. Available from most bookshops and Tabacs in Nice and from Amazon.fr

December 2007 Outside the Matisse Museum Another gorgeous December day, blue sky, bright sunshine but chilly; you need warm coats and sunglasses. The Matisse museum is in Cimiez, a mostly residential area, a short bus ride from Nice. The Matisse museum and Roman archeological museum are within a large park, the site of the annual Nice Jazz Festival every July.
City Spots Nice (Thomas Cook, Feb 2006) £4.79 Pocket sized guide book, good value and useful overview of Nice, best in conjunction with a good map. To see more recommended books on Nice and the Cote d'Azur, please click here
